Itinerary
Arrival day
When you arrive at our base camp, located just a few minutes’ drive from the Vioolsdrif/Noordoewer border, you will be welcomed by our camp manager. You can unwind and scout out the camp after long day of travelling. Dinner is served at 7pm.
The day on the river
You will enjoy an early breakfast at 6am to fuel up for the adventure ahead. Afterwards, our guide will teach you what you need to know before the boats hit the water. This demonstration will include a rowing tutorial, what to do if you capsize and how to tackle rapids. Feel free to ask any questions you have, so that you are completely comfortable before you depart. Remember to listen carefully to your guide – your safety is our priority!
You can fill your cooler box with ice and snacks before being transported to the starting point (upstream from basecamp). From there, you will row and enjoy the mesmerizing scenery and wildlife around you. You will have a well-deserved break for lunch on the riverbanks, and then row back to base camp.
You’ll have dinner and overnight at the camp, resting up after a long day of fun.

What to pack
It can be daunting when it’s time to pack for a trip like this. Don’t worry! We’re here to guide you. It is important that you don’t bring too much clothes. During the day we recommend you wear swimwear and a long sleeved shirt to keep the sun off. Try to bring only the essential toiletries: a small container of biodegradable soap, a toothbrush/toothpaste and toilet paper is all you need.
Sun protection is the most important thing to take with you on the river. Lots of sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat and a long sleeved shirt will save you from painful sunburns. Always remember enough sunscreen and plenty of water!
