Itinerary
Arrival day
Our base camp is only a few minutes’ drive from the Vioolsdrif/Noordoewer border. Once you arrive, our camp manager will be there to welcome you. Take some time to explore the campsite, settle in, and unwind before dinner at 7 pm.
Day One
Rise and shine! Breakfast is at 6 am, followed by a safety briefing and a quick equipment demo. Your guide will show you everything you need to know before hitting the water, from how to row like a pro to what to do if you capsize, and how to handle the rapids. Got questions? Now’s the time to ask!
Listen carefully to your guide. Safety always comes first.
After the briefing, it’s time to pack the boats and push off from base camp. The adventure begins! Take in the beautiful scenery and enjoy a refreshing dip in the river.
In the afternoon, you will have a well-deserved break for lunch on the riverbanks. Once you’ve recharged, it’s back on the water as you paddle downstream to a camp spot on the river banks.
As the sun sets, there’s time to relax, explore, and enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by the guides before settling in for the night under a sky full of stars.
Day Two & Three
Day 2: Wake up to a glorious sunrise while the guides get breakfast ready. Then it’s back on the water for a leisurely drift downstream, taking in the breathtaking scenery of the Namib Desert. Swim, fish, play a bit of ball, or simply sit back and relax.
Each night is spent on a new riverbank, adding a sense of adventure to every day. There’s also the option to hike up to the old fluorspar mines, where stunning views of the Richtersveld and the mighty Orange River winding through the mountains await.
On Day 3, the journey continues with a resupply stop at Sjambok.
Day Four
After covering roughly 60 km on the river, pickup takes place at Aussenkehr between 2 pm and 4 pm. From there, it’s back to base camp for a well-earned dinner.
After four days on the river, the night is spent at base camp—time to relax, recharge, and soak in the final moments of the adventure before hitting the road.
Departure day
After four incredible days on the river, enjoy one last breakfast before heading home, already dreaming up the next Orange River adventure.
